Forestland site quality evaluation of Fujian Province based on continuous forest inventory data.

Abstract
Based on continuous forest inventory data (as mean tree, sample tree and plot), tree height curves
of main tree species were established, site index tables were compiled, and site index models were built
with some landform and soil factors. Meanwhile, forestland spacial distribution冶database was used for
sub-compartment site index estimation of Fujian Province, the special distribution of forestland site quality
class was draw then. Results showed that: 1) height class reflected tree growth on different site
condition, which can be used to determine the productivity level of plot and calculate dominant tree
height. Taking Richards function as a basic model type, site index tables can be compiled with standard
diameter. 2) Landform, slope-position, aspect, slope and soil thickness were dominant factors for
multivariate linear model of Cunninghamia lanceolata in southeastern region, the model had high
precision with mean prospect error of 0-75%. 3) The area proportion of sub-compartment with good and
moderate site quality classes was 82-58% in Fujian Province. In conclusion, the site quality evaluation
method proposed in this research is available and worth of spreading.
