Genetic diversity and construction of fingerprinting of chrysanthemum cultivars by CDDP markers

    • This study used conserved DNA-derived polymorphism (CDDP) markers to analyse the genetic diversity among 50 chrysanthemum cultivars with different inflorescence sizes, petal and colour types. Using 19 selected CDDP primers, 234 bands were generated with an average of 12.32 bands per primer, with 211 (90.17%) being polymorphic. The SM similarity coefficient among different pairs of genotypes varied from 0.617 0 to 0.944 7, with an average of 0.733 0. The minimum number of primers required to distinguish all 50 accessions was 2 (WRKY-R2 and WRKY-R3). The dendrogram conducted by UPMGA method showed that clustering closely corresponded to inflorescence size and not to petal types or colour types. The results demonstrate that CDDP marker is a very effective and efficient tool for genetic diversity analysis and cultivar identification.
