Plant regeneration from immature embryos of roses

    • In order to obtain rose regeneration system for genetic transformation, the immature embryos of Rosa ‘Peaudouce’,‘Blue Ribbon’ and ‘Sonora’ were taken as explants, and regenerated plants were obtained.Adventitious buds were induced in MS+ZT 0.5 mg/L for ‘Peaudouce’,MS+ZT 4.0 mg/L+NAA 1.0 mg/L for ‘Blue Ribbon’ and MS+ZT 0.5 mg/L+NAA 0.5 mg/L for ‘Sonora’,and the regeneration rates were 33.3%,33.3% and 16.7% respectively. The regenerated buds grew into shoots in the MS medium without plant growth regulators, and they rooted in MS+IBA 0.5 mg/L.The contamination rate increased and the matured embryos prefer to develop into plumules when the storing time prolonged;the longest time for storing was less than 90 days. The results indicate that the plantlet regeneration system from immature embryos can be a proper receptor system for genetic transformation in roses.
