Relationship between landslide and lithology in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area based on GIS and information value model

    • The development of landslide in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area is related to many factors.Lithology is one of the indispensable internal factors besides relative elevation, slope gradient and slope profile. The authors used information value model with geographical information system(GIS) technology to study how lithology contributed to landslide growth in the Yunyang-Wushan Segment in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, and the relationship between lithology and landslide growth was quantified.Through the research on 205 landslide examples,it was found that the lithology of J3s,J3p and T2b contributed most to landslide. The research results inosculate preferably with the fact. The result of this paper can provide the valid basis to the construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area in future.
