Abstract
Responding to the social and economic changes as well as advances in natural and social sciences, conservation approaches are evolving rapidly. As a result, the very perception of the concept of nature reserve is being deepened. Besides the core role in biodiversity conservation, the aims of establishing protected areas should also include the sustainable use of natural resources and the preservation of ecosystem services. Nature reserves should not only integrate with broader social development process but also pay more attention to cultural resources as essential associates of biodiversity. Therefore, it needs a corresponding division to management types and governance categories as well as effective management measures. Only then, it could play a significant role and make a greater contribution to society.
