Regional variation of forest ecosystem services in China

Forest ecosystem plays an important role in maintaining environment and supplying ecosystem services. Evaluation of forest ecosystem services is a hot topic. Under the framework of evaluation criteria published by the State Forestry Administration of China for forest ecosystem services, the 7th forest resource inventory was used to evaluate the value of forest ecosystem services in China. By using the polygon synthesis indicator method, each province got a score of integrated assessment. The results showed that the total value of forest ecosystem services was RMB 100 147.61×108 per year in China. And the unit value of different provinces ranged between RMB 4.00×104-5.00×104 per hectare per year. The distribution of forest ecosystem services was not even among different provinces, with the higher integrated assessment indices in the high- and low-latitude provinces than those in the mid-latitude provinces.
