Abstract
In order to know the effects of adding silicon dioxide to coating, silicon dioxide powder was added to the polyurethane coating and was finished on Pinus massoniana wood surface. The results showed that after silicon dioxide was modified using silane coupling agent KH570 in toluene solvent, its lipophilicity increased, but its hydrophilicity decreased. Its dispersivity in the polyurethane coating was better than that of nonmodified silicon dioxide;wood surface coating properties were improved to some extent, its impact resistance property and aging resistance were significantly increased; modified silicon dioxide polyurethane coating was better than that of nonmodified in abradability, impact resistance property, hardness, and aging resistance. So the properties of coating increased by using silicon dioxide as the reinforcing agent, coating as carrier, and the silicon dioxide and polyurethane coating were together acted when they were mixed.
