Abstract:
Influence of cultivating conditions on toxin production of
Pestalotiopsis funerea was explored by the comparison of toxin produced from
P.funerea cultivated on four solid media and a liquid culture medium. It was manifested that the growth of
P.funerea on a solid medium was more suitable and its capacity of toxin production could reach very high when fungus grew on some natural solid media such as wheat and wheat-bran.The bio-determination results of different concentrations of toxin revealed that toxin produced in the two solid media mentioned above still had pathogenicity on needle leaves(bio-determination material) even being diluted 20 times.Toxin is dissolvable in water and difficult to volatilize in a bio-determination comparison of collected components from metabolic material of
P.funerea.The effects of different methods of bio-determination on pathogenicity of toxin showed that the reaction speed of acupuncture was faster than water immersion. But the pathogenicity effect of acupuncture was less distinct than that of water immersion in low concentration toxin. It is indicated that the pathogenic effect on weeds was not significant in the experiment of utilizing
P.funerea as herbicide.A series of experiments confirmed that cultivating conditions could significantly influence its capacity of toxin production.
