Characteristics of snowpack chemistry in different type plantations of Xiaoxing蒺an Mountains, northeastern China.

    • The samples of snowpack collected during November 2010 to March 2011 in main type plantations in Xiaoxing'an Mountains, northeastern China were regarded as the research object in order to study the snow chemical characteristics and regularities of forest ecosystem. We measured pH, CD and concentrations of SO 2 - 4 ,NH+ 4 ,NO- 3 ,Cl- ,K+ , Ca 2 + ,Mg 2 + ,Fe and Mn in different type plantations in Liangshui Nature Reserve, southeastern part of Xiaoxing'an Mountains to correctly evaluate temperate forest water conservation function and provide scientific basis for the sustainable management. The results were shown as the followings: 1) The chemical compositions varied among stands with different types,in which Fe, Mn, K+ , Ca 2 + , Mg 2 + , SO 2 - 4 , NO-3 were highest in stands with the artificial spruce-fir plantations, which illustrated that artificial spruce-fir plantation was most effective in retaining nutrients. There was no significant difference among the different types of artificial forest. 2) In addition to NH+ 4 , the ion concentration in snowpack was generally low under the minimum canopy density of Larix gmelinii plantations, indicating that canopy density had influence on the snow ion concentration.
